This article was about the No Child Left Behide Act of 2001. The act was by the Bush Administration and it is made to make the education system better. There was four major parts that would help the school system. Increased accountability, More choices for students and parents, Greater flexibility for states, school districts, and schools, and Putting reading first. All of these are great by making the schools responsible for how they perform by making the grades 3-8 take test to see that the teachers are doing what they need to be doing, letting the students do well no matter where they go to school, making sure that the students are reading and reaching reading goals, and making sure that the school funds are being used right. In this act there were more then just these four parts changed to our education system but these were the most important.
I believe the author argued his point well, by knowing all the things that should be changed in the education system. I would not say I have questions about this but do not think this will fix everything that is wrong with the education system. I am left not knowing why we have so many low income schools that are not getting the help they need. I believe we will always have schools like this but there is a bunch we can do to help.
I do not agree with the act but the article is different. I think that we should do more with the act so our school systems are better. I think that if everyone in all schools did what the article said we would have a better system but everything can not be perfect. I think that the test are a good idea but not all students are good at taking test. I can say that because I am one of those students. I do not think students should not pass a grade level because they fail a test but are a great student.
"These systems must be based on challenging State standards in reading and mathematics, annual testing for all students in grades 3-8, and annual statewide progress objective ensuring that all groups of students reach proficiency within 12 years." I picked this because I do not think that you should not be able to go to the next grade if you fail. I think that if you do all year in your classes you should be able to go on. I also think this can be a good thing for schools to see how the teachers are doing and not make the student fail because he or she can not pass a test. The state can also see if the teacher is teaching the right things or if they need to improve more.
