Testing System
I think that we should have test during the year but not have an EOG or EOC. I think that test should not make you pass or fail the whole year. I think a good idea for replacing test is projects. Projects help you with during work with others in class and outside of class, it makes the student do research for the project also. I believe that doing projects helps any student with learning and doing things on their own. I feel that this will also help the teachers so that they do not have to teach just to the test but can do other things if they wanted to.

I agree with you. My post was about my ideal testing system being projects as well. Projects require deeper thinking especially if you have to present it to the class. I like that you talked about teachers not teaching to the test. I like that because I think teaching to the test is a big problem now.
ReplyDeleteYes teaching to the test is a big problem now. The teachers and student are not having fun teaching or learning. I think that if the teachers dont have to worry about a test then they will have more fun teaching and the students will want to learn. I feel that if I could go back not do projects and not test in school I would remember alot of things I dont. I think I would have had more fun if it was not going in everyday and the teacher teaching to a test. but that is just me
DeleteI also agree with you. I was never keen on the whole pass or fail system they had and I honestly felt that, it wasn't fair to students who had worked so hard the whole semester just to fail because that's what the test said. I like the idea of projects and agree that it would engage the student more and would be able to let them learn new things on their own and present them.
ReplyDeleteYes I agree with you because I was one of those students I did great all year and then could not pass the test so I failed? No that is not fair if I can do the work in the class and that I know what is going on but not to pass a test is not something I want to see. I know I am a bad test taker and I get worried every year when its time to take the test. I dont think someone should have to worry about passing a test the whole year. I think they should have fun when in school and want to be there. I think if students want to be there and they are having fun learning the students will do a lot better and taking a test is not fun at all, at least a project you can some what do what you want and have fun learning it at the same time.
DeleteI fell like the point of standardized testing is to test the individual's knowledge so while projects are a great way to measure comprehension I do not think they are the best way to test. If everyone is helping everyone then how will we know who truley understands the material and who is just piggy backing of what the other memebers of the group are saying?
ReplyDeleteI do not think that standardized testing should tell someone they can not more on to the next grade. I do not see how one test can tell if that person knows what they are learning. By doing a project they have to do research and come up with an idea on how to let the class know what he or she studied. Projects do not always have to be a group thing it can also be a one person thing. I be that by doing projects it help the student think out side the box and not make the teachers teach to a test. It lets the teacher do what they have to do but also letting them teach it how they want to not how someone tells them they have to. I think that schools should let the teachers teach how they want to but having some kind of outline for what they should teach.
